Punteggio 16.5/20 · Da bere 2022-2030, Jancis Robinson MW, Feb 2022

Jim Prosser is the owner. Worked 1999 with Christophe Roumier: hot fermentation and lots of extraction. This wine is from his home vineyard. Volcanic soils. Transparent crimson. Gamey and rich and distinctive. Warm, smouldering fruit, I find! Makes the Domaine Roy taste more refreshing! (JR)

Punteggio 87/100 · Da bere 2020-2022, Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate, Apr 2020

The 2016 Pinot Noir St. Dolores opens with tar, rubber and scorched earth, with black and red fruits at the core and some horse saddle notions coming through with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied and earthy with grainy tannins and good freshness, finishing with red fruits, although that rubbery character is distracting. 167 cases produced.

Vivid magenta color. A highly complex, expansive bouquet evokes fresh boysenberry, raspberry and Asian spices. A suave floral nuance builds with aeration. Sweet and seamless in the mouth, displaying impressive heft and clarity to its intense, mineral-accented red/blue fruit, lavender pastille and spicecake flavors. Shows outstanding energy and floral thrust on a gently tannic, penetrating finish that hangs on with superb, red fruit-driven tenacity. (28% new French oak)
