Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2023-2040, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Jan 2020

Aromas of wild berries, spices and coniferous forest floor preface Bachelet's 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Evocelles, a medium to full-bodied, supple and enveloping wine that's more mineral and ethereal than the corresponding Vieilles Vignes, with terrific depth at the core and a long, saline finish.

Punteggio 91-93/100 · Da bere 2022-2040, Neal Martin, Jan 2019

The 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Evocelles Vieilles Vignes comes from around 60-year old vines. Perhaps this is the most discrete of Bachelet's 2017s on the nose with tightly wound blackberry and wild strawberry fruit, the mineral component emerging reluctantly with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe tannin, silky smooth in texture with a sorbet-fresh, elegant finish. Wonderful, but it needs cellaring to overcome its bashfulness.

Made since 2011. Sample of three barrels. He chooses very fine-grained oak. More cherry and dark-red fruit on the nose. Much sweeter-fruited on the palate too, that lovely red fruit and the oak nowhere to be seen – amazingly hidden. Seductive in a way the others have not been. Rich in fruit and beautifully rounded. Long too. (JH)
