The 2017 Morey-Saint-Denis Clos Solon has a lifted black cherry and cassis scented bouquet that is nicely poised, though not powerful. The palate is medium-bodied with a saline entry, light tannin, a little bitter towards the finish with moderate length. I would just like to see more flesh evolve by the time of bottling.

Fourrier's 2017 Morey-Saint-Denis Clos Solon wafts from the glass with aromas of plums, dark chocolate and candied peel, followed by a medium to full-bodied, supple and succulent palate that's open-knit and giving but nicely concentrated. It will offer a broad drinking window.
In the middle of the Clos, planted in the 1960s. In tank since 3 weeks ago. Will be bottled early February. Sweet and sour cherry on the nose with a little ripe raisiny note peeking out. Really quite ripe on the palate, still fresh but rather sturdy. Very rounded but dark and a little sour on the finish. Seems out of keeping with the style of the other Fourrier wines, as if perhaps the sample was not in great shape. (JH)

Domaine Fourrier is located in the village of Gevrey-Chambertin. The estate has been run by Jean-Marie Fourrier since 1994, and has rapidly become one of the village’s most fashionable names, known for producing pure and transparent Pinot Noir.
