The maiden 2017 Vosne-Romanée Sélection Pre-Colombière comes from three vineyards, all located in the heart of the village. This has more depth of fruit on the nose than the regular Village Cru, featuring raspberry, cranberry and light mineral notes. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry, more substance than the regular cuvée and firm grip on the structured finish. Fine.

Le Pré de la Folie, La Colombière, Aux Communes blend. Barrel sample. Intense, ripe and rich dark-red fruit. Not as rich as I expected on the palate, quite light-bodied though the tannins are just right for the depth of fruit. Perhaps just a little bit stalky, giving a dry finish and needs time to flesh out the middle. (JH)
