Note di degustazione
The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Les Beaux Monts 1er Cru, matured in 60% new oak, has one of the most sensual bouquets from Cécile Tremblay this year, with plenty of crushed strawberry, rose petals and flecks of dark chocolate. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, the new oak more conspicuous than in other crus at the moment, so give this at least two or three years to subsume the wood; there is plenty of substance to soak it up. Should drink well for 12 to 18 years.

Aromas of smoked duck, cassis and smoky plums introduce the 2017 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaumonts, a satiny, medium to full-bodied wine with a characteristically generous, ample profile, framed by velvety structuring tannins. It's one of the more gourmand wines in the cellar.
90-year-old vines. In barrel therefore not yet racked, 50% new oak – two barrels. (It will spend 6 weeks in tank for stability and clarity.) Charming and seductive. Intensely aromatic with lightly spiced red fruit and a herbal freshness. I want to swim in this. More spice on the palate but again the oak barely shows except in spice and a little smoky note – but no reduction. Paper-fine tannins and gorgeous pure fruit to the long finish. Moreish. (JH)
