Note di degustazione
A huge, powerful wine, the 1990 Pinot Noir Jensen Vineyard hits the palate with serious depth and intensity. The flavors are quite dark in a brooding, virile Pinot Noir endowed with a real sense of gravitas. Although not one of the more finessed wines made at Calera, the 1990 Jensen has certainly held up well. Smoke, game, licorice and worn-in leather all hint at full maturity and suggest the 1990 needs to be enjoyed within the next few years.

Planted 1974. Still quite dark but smells pretty old. Thick and dense and a bit dry, as in non juicy. A bit brawny. I'd like bit more juice. (JR)
The Calera Pinot Noirs are never shy or uninteresting, but the 1990 Jensen is uncharacteristically monolithic and young. Tasted blind, I would have thought it to be a 4-5 year old Pinot. This deep, concentrated, virile, powerful 1990 still needs time. Will it emerge from its one-dimensional stage and provide even more impressive drinking? It will keep for another 5-10 years.
