Punteggio 95/100 · Da bere 2022-2030, Josh Raynolds, Feb 2021

Brilliant red. A highly perfumed bouquet evokes fresh red berries, candied flowers and incense, and cola and Asian spice nuances build in the background. Seamless, sharply focused and appealingly sweet, offering vibrant raspberry, spicecake and lavender pastille flavors braced by a spine of juicy acidity. Shows outstanding clarity and nervy thrust on the impressively long, seamless finish, which is framed by smooth, harmonious tannins. Made with partially destemmed fruit; aged for a year in large used French oak barrels.

This shows a lot of iron and rust aromas with some dried strawberries and lemon peel. Oranges, too. Medium-bodied, firm and silky. Chewy and very cool. Very perfumed. Drink now.

Punteggio 97/100 · Da bere 2019-2027, Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate, Dec 2018

The breathtaking 2016 Las Umbrías is all about finesse and subtleness. The color is very pale, it looks almost like a rosé. Everything is delicate, the aromas are reticent at first, with flinty/reductive characteristics, lots of dried rose petals, juicy pomegranate and watermelon on the palate with incredibly fine-grained tannins, faintly chalky and somehow salty on the finish, which makes it extremely tasty. 1,722 bottles of this heavenly nectar were filled in February 2018. Grab one if you can!
