The 2015 Alto Adige Terlano Riserva Nova Domus is a blend of 60% Pinot Bianco, 30% Chardonnay and 10% Sauvignon Blanc. The wine undergoes slow fermentation in large oak barrel and partial malolactic fermentation (only for the Chardonnay and the Pinot Bianco). The wine is aged in barrel for 12 months, but the final blend is not made until three months before bottling. Some 25,000 bottles are released as a result. The bouquet is seamless and beautifully intense with a fresh medley of stone fruit, honey, mango, lemon mousse, saffron and lightly toasted almond. The full-bodied mouthfeel is creamy and rich.

From the Classico region but not shown on the label. Released 1 October 2017. Riserva sold 2 years after the harvest. 100% fermented in 3,000-litre Stockinger foudres. Partial malo. Same blend as the Terlaner Classico 2016 – 60% Pinot Bianco, 30% Chardonnay, 10% Sauvignon Blanc – but older vines (40 years). 20,000 bottles. Riper aroma than the Terlaner Classico, still creamy but a hint of orange and spice. Oak showing a little more but very subtle. Rich, full in the mouth and the alcohol shows much less than in the Terlaner Classico even though it is higher. Deep, creamy texture. (JH)
