Punteggio 16.5/20 · Da bere 2022-2028, Julia Harding MW, jancisrobinson.com, Jan 2019

Mid crimson. Ripe and sweet on the nose, more red-fruited than the Gevrey and fresher but still dense and rich and rounded. Deeply, smoothly textured, slightly thickened by the oak. Plenty of pleasure but seems less reflective of the vintage. (JH)

The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Village has quite a feisty nose, perhaps with just a touch of VA at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannin, a little metallic on the entry, sinewy and quite grippy, though I would be seeking more finesse on the finish once bottled.

A discreetly spicy nose features attractive notes of tea, violet, red pinot and a whiff of sandalwood. There is equally good density to the more refined medium weight flavors that possess a velvety texture that carries over the lingering and balanced finish. This moderately firm effort is very Vosne-like in character.

The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Village offers up a pretty bouquet of sweet berries, plums and candied peel, deftly framed by spicy new oak. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, supple and fleshy, with succulent acids and a nicely defined finish. It's a charming wine that will drink well on release.
