Punteggio 88/100 · Da bere 2023-2033, Neal Martin, Mar 2021

The 2018 Château de Francs "Les Cerisiers" has what you might call a mellow bouquet of mulberry and loamy, almost peat-like aromas; touches of camphor emerge with time. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannins, as much red as black fruit and tar and tobacco notes toward the easygoing finish. Nothing over-ambitious here, but that is to its credit.

Medium-bodied, with a nice touch of salty minerality on top of the sweet, ripe, red berries. You also find fresh, plums, cocoa, espresso and a juicy, stony, salty finish. Give it a few years in the cellar before pulling a cork.

Bright cherry, strawberry, flowery incense, and cedary notes emerge from the 2018 Château De Francs Les Cerisiers, a medium-bodied, nicely textured, balanced 2018. It shows the lively, fresh, focused side to the vintage yet still has plenty of fruit and is impeccably made. Drink it over the coming 4-6 years.

The 2018 Les Cerisiers is bright and effusive in the glass. Brilliant aromatics, kirsch, sweet tobacco, cedar, blood orange and mint all come alive in the glass. This mid-weight, generous Côtes de Francs delivers the goods, big time. It is a fabulous effort from Dominique Hébrard and Hubert de Boüard. Best of all, Les Cerisiers is a reliably outstanding value. How many regions and estates in the world can produce a wine of this quality and price?
