Note di degustazione
The 2018 Dutruch Grand Poujeaux has a light bouquet that gains intensity with aeration, offering red fruit laced with pine and light minty aromas and fine definition. The palate is medium-bodied with firm grip, the tannins framing the satisfying blackberry and raspberry fruit. There is a sense of this Moulis holding itself back, and I appreciate the balance and harmony that carry through to the finish. A well-crafted wine that merits seeking out.

The 2018 Dutruch Grand Poujeaux is vibrant and poised in the glass, with terrific energy backing the red-toned fruit. Raspberry coulis, lavender, spice, menthol and blood give this mid-weight Moulis notable character. There is a vibrancy to the 2018 that is incredibly appealing. I would give this a year or two in bottle, but it is pretty impressive in the early going.
Mainly deep gravels. 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot, 5% Cabernet Franc. Hand-picked from 24 September to 11 October followed by a 17- to 25-day maceration. Aged for 18 months, including 12 months in oak barrels (36% new). Mid garnet. Rather toasty, evolved nose. Smooth and suave with a dry but not drying finish. Well-polished tannins add bite and verve to this wine. Cool and fresh. Nice and neat without any perceptible alcohol. (JR)
