Cru bourgeois. 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 47% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot. 80% aged in barrel, one-third new. Deep, rather glamorous crimson (thanks to all that Cabernet perhaps?). Rather more subtle on the nose than some. High-toned aroma and very suave texture. This, the most serious of the 2018 Médoc crus bourgeois, could certainly be a classed growth on the basis of how it tastes. Long and rich with a very solid framework and great potential for ageing. Mouth-filling and not simple. (JR)

Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Patache d'Aux offers up scents of dried Provence herbs, redcurrant jelly and black raspberries with suggestions of pencil lead and ground cloves. The medium-bodied palate delivers a good amount of herbs-infused red berry flavors, supported by chewy tannins and bags of freshness, finishing savory.
The 2018 Patache d’Aux offers alluring red currant, raspberry coulis and light rose petal scents on the nose, the oak nicely integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with quite a tannic entry. This is a slightly austere Patache d’Aux, a little rigid at the moment, although it should loosen up with time. Needs to lighten up a little, but there is plenty of freshness.
