Punteggio 88/100 · Da bere 2023-2032, Neal Martin, Mar 2021

The 2018 Chantegrive has a ripe red cherry and crushed strawberry nose, less outgoing than out of barrel but maybe just missing a bit of amplitude. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, nicely judged acidity and a slight bitterness toward the finish. It lacks a bit of length, although there is decent freshness. It should drink well for 8–10 years.

Always solid, the 2018 Château De Chantegrive has a crunchy, vibrant, medium-bodied style that carries lots of black cherry and mulberry fruits, notes of cedar pencil and earth, ripe yet firm tannins, and a good spine of acidity. It's nicely balanced and will benefit from a few years of bottle age and keep for a good decade.

The 2018 Chantegrive is a potent, earthy wine. Black cherry, mocha, gravel, spice, leather and dried herbs all open with a bit of coaxing. The 2018 is a bit rustic in feel, but pleasantly so. There is no shortage of character, that is for sure.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Chantegrive charges out of the gate with notes of fresh black and red currants, ripe plums and mulberries, plus hints of menthol, pencil lead and tobacco leaf. The medium-bodied palate is chock-full of bright, crunchy black and red berry flavors, supported by plush tannins and a lively backbone, finishing with an invigorating lift.
