Note di degustazione
I felt like the 2013 Pangea Apalta Vineyard Syrah was much fresher, with the oak a lot better integrated than the 2012. It had, in general, better balance and even more varietal character and imprint from the soil. Nothing changed in the vinification or aging, so it's just the effect of the year. 25,000 bottles produced.

(aged in new and used French oak barrels for 18 months) Bright purple. Expansive, spice-accented black and blue fruit liqueur, violet, cola and mocha scents gain vivacity and pick up a smoky quality as the wine opens up. Densely packed but lively blackberry, boysenberry and floral pastille flavors stretch out and pick up a hint of bitter chocolate on the back half. Delivers a suave blend of richness and finesse and finishes with excellent dark-fruit-driven persistence and subtle tannic grip.
