Deep brilliant ruby. A complex, highly perfumed bouquet evokes ripe red and blue fruit, exotic spice, smoked meat and floral aromas, enlivened by a vibrant mineral quality that builds in the glass. Sweet, seamless and expansive in the mouth, offering densely packed raspberry, cherry, lavender and spicecake flavors that show excellent clarity and back-end cut. The mineral and floral notes drive an impressively long, sappy finish shaped by smooth tannins.

Rounded, beautifully textured, and elegant, with ultra-fine tannins, it's a seamless, sensational Châteauneuf Du Pape that shines on all accounts. It shows the sunny, sexy style of the vintage and is approachable today yet will keep for 15+ years or more. The Vacheron family, Bruno Gaspard, and consultant Philippe Cambie continue to work magic at this modestly sized estate located on the eastern edge of Châteauneuf du Pape. They produce a bevy of cuvees, all of which are noteworthy, with their two flagship Châteauneuf du Papes, the Les Quartz and La Reserve, flirting with perfection in just about every vintage.
Hints of rosemary and pine accent cherries and apricots in the Grenache-dominated 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape Les Safres. Full-bodied, rich and velvety, it finishes long and intense. Already drinking well, it should continue to do so through 2030.
