The base 2017 Cornas is classic and a great introduction into the wines of the domaine. Black raspberries, cassis, toasted spice, incense, smoke game, and plenty of minerality all flow to a full-bodied Cornas that has silky tannins, no hard edges, and a great, great finish. You certainly wouldn't be disappointed with a case of this in the cellar. Enough can’t be said about the quality now coming from the domaine of Stéphane Robert. Both his reds and whites are world-class in every sense.

Robert's 2017 Cornas is a medium to full-bodied wine loaded with blackberries, cassis and plums. Despite being ripe and approachable, there's a crispness and firmness to this that's classic Cornas, with crushed stone and seductive hints of licorice on the lingering finish. Tasted twice (once blind), with one bottle seeming plusher and more open than the other but generally consistent in terms of flavor profile.
Opaque ruby. Mineral- and spice-accented aromas of dark berries, cracked pepper and licorice, along with a hint of olive and building smokiness. Juicy and broad in the mouth, showing very good depth as well as energy to the bitter cherry, blackberry and floral pastille flavors. Supple tannins build on the finish, which shows smoky mineral cut and strong, spice-driven persistence.
