The 2016 Gevrey-Chambertin Village has a well-defined, charming bouquet with raspberry, wild strawberry and hints of black truffle. The oak is enmeshed beautifully here. The palate is medium-bodied with gentle tannin, a fine bead of acidity, good substance for a Village Cru with succulent red fruit towards the finish. This is an exemplar of great Gevrey Village. Tasted at the Domaine.

The 2016 Gevrey-Chambertin Villages is showing well, wafting from the glass with aromas of dark fruits, espresso roast, grilled meats, licorice and smoky new oak. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, with juicy acids and fine tannins.
(from a crop of 48 hectoliters per hectare, as the Rotys' four parcels were mostly spared by the frost): Good dark red with ruby tones. Sexy soil and spice notes and red licorice on the nose, with primary fruits in the deep background. Supple on entry, then tighter in the middle, offering slightly saline flavors of redcurrant, leather and spices. Finishes with dusty, slightly herbal tannins and a lively note of violet.
