Punteggio 18/20 · Da bere 2023-2050, Jancis Robinson MW, Nov 2024

Described as 'a perfect vintage' with very normal yields. According to Don Weaver who presented the wine, Harlan's yields haven’t varied much because their pruning is so precise. Concentrated purplish crimson. Very rich and ripe with the tannins prominent. Big and muscular with quite a bit of alcohol on the end. Relatively sweet. (JR)

Very rich and voluptuous, polished and round – and just the right side of sweet and alcoholic. Pure luxury in a bottle! (JR)

Magnum. 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, remainder: Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot. The 2016 vintage is a wine of finesse and detail, precision and complexity, full of harmony, power and grace. While Harlan Estate is an impressive wine in general, the 2016 feels like a distinctive elevation in character. A mix of firm, black fruits are lifted with resinous herbs, graphite and spice. Tannin character is fine-grained while persistent and abundant, wed nicely to mouth-watering length and freshness. This wine is digestible, elegant and a beauty. It makes me excited about the future of Harlan. (ECB)
