Note di degustazione
Bright, fresh, dense and structured. A deep core of dark, brooding, tightly-coiled sweet fruit. Will definitely require time, but there is an elegance, hint of smoke and savoury delicacy. Real depth. Mouthfeel is full and rich, currently a little de-compartmentalised at this early stage, but showing everything in abundance, and should come together wonderfully with time in the cellar. Quite fleshy on the finish, with a touch of earth.

The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Saint-Georges 1er Cru has a lovely baked cherry and vanilla-tinged bouquet, quite floral in style but never powerful or ambitious. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit and a fine bead of acidity, but the growing season doesn’t quite deliver the substance and density of this vineyard on the finish (unlike the Les Boudots). Let’s see if there’s some upswing once in bottle.
The 2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Saint Georges (Maison Louis Jadot) offers up aromas of ripe plums and berry fruit that mingle with nuances of black truffle spices, loamy soil and dried flowers. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and layered, with a gourmand core of fruit that cloaks its ripe tannins, ending with a long, pure finish. This is one of the definite successes in the Maison range this year.

Louis Jadot is arguably the most consistent négociant house in Burgundy. It has managed to straddle both the entry-level and fine wine market, while retaining respect in both.
