2016 Morey St Denis Tres Girard

(there was no frost here but production was barely 40 hectoliters per hectare due to the advanced age of the vines; the soil is mostly marl and limestone): Healthy dark red. Aromas of black raspberry, gunflinty minerality and flowers. Supple, savory and quite dry, offering youthfully linear flavors of dark berries, spices, licorice and herbs. Finishes with a firm tannic spine and good length and lift. Avoids hardness even today but this wine still needs to expand during its final months of élevage.
