Note di degustazione
From Ribeira Sacra, but labelled as Vino de España. Understated nose, then peppery and piquant on the palate, with ripe red fruit and finely brushed tannic feel. Light and a little lean to finish. (RH)

The faint animal character that was present when the 2016 Azos de Vila was first poured disappeared after a few minutes in the glass, but the wine remained with a somewhat wild personality. It comes from different vineyards in the zone of Manzaneda in Ribeira Sacra where the soils are granitic and the vineyards are located between 400 and 750 meters in altitude. It fermented in oak vats with indigenous yeasts and matured in 225- and 500-liter oak and chestnut barrels for 11 months. It has contained ripeness, clean aromas and a fresh and balanced palate with lively acidity and fine minerality. It has an herbal and spicy twist that makes it very tasty. I like this very much; it's a great improvement over previous vintages. 3,414 bottles produced. It was bottled in September 2017.
