Masses of crushed raspberries, exotic spices and sage come together in the glass as the 2015 Cabernet Riserva Mumelter slowly comes to life. This is silky and textural with a creamy wave of ripe red and blue fruits complemented by mint and dark chocolate. Fine tannins frame the finish as this tapers off structured with licorice and sour citrus hints adding a lovely contrast.

Cantina Produttori Bolzano makes elegant wines that reflect local traditions. Their 2015 Alto Adige Cabernet Riserva Mumelter is very true to the variety and has dark berry nuances that are enhanced by herbal overlays, smoke and licorice. Indeed, a small amount (5%) of Cabernet Franc is blended into this Cabernet Sauvignon. This pretty wine is distinguished by an enhanced sense of definition, balance and detail. This is a great wine to pair with barbecued meats or steak. Some 10,000 bottles were produced.
