Note di degustazione
Offering up a lovely bouquet of crisp yellow apples, fresh stone fruits, crushed chalk and warm pastry, the 2017 Mâcon-Milly-Lamartine is medium to full-bodied, satiny and incisive, with a lively spine of acidity and a long, flavorful finish. This derives from high-altitude, east-facing plantings, which accounts for its tensile profile.

First vines they bought. 1999 first vintage. Picked two weeks later than Mâcon-Uchizy Les Maranches. At 450 m and on very calcareous soil with big stones. Two-thirds fermented in foudres. Bottled. Lots of tight citrus but salty too, even on the nose. Chalky and refined. Really crisp and salty on the palate but no lack of fruit, just much more tension. They do age in bottle but don’t improve, says Dominique Lafon, so why wait? Mouth-watering. (JH)
