Bright ruby-red. Pungent cherry, crushed strawberry and brown spice aromas are lifted by a floral topnote; more red fruits than black. Tactile, chewy and improbably concentrated, conveying an impression of pure fruit sap. Still an infant but the wine's big tannins are totally buffered by sheer extract.

Mainly Clos de Bèze but a blend so has to be labelled Chambertin. Glorious. Brilliant fruit. Racy and polished. Great freshness. Not massive though. (JR)
The 2014 Chambertin Grand Cru has a highly perfumed, violet-tinged black cherry and boysenberry fruit that is very well defined, interwoven with a keen thread of mineralite. The palate is medium-bodied with a fine line of acidity. It feels quite linear in the mouth with a touch of salinite and spiciness with a chalky-textured, strict finish. It does not quite “let go” like the Bonnes-Mares or the Romanee-Saint-Vivant but it will surely blossom in bottle. Dec 2015, www.robertparker.com
