Tasted blind. Mid gold colour. Very musty, earthy nose with a warmth of alcohol underneath. Very full, sweet and sticky. Highly sweet but equally high in acid. Full and rich, but perhaps lacking finesse and intrigue. Long finish. (TP)

The 2017 Lamothe-Guignard has a pretty and well-defined bouquet with wild honey, almond and light walnut aromas that feels detailed and nicely focused. The palate is well balanced with a viscous opening. This is full of tension, quite linear in style and maybe just needs to develop more weight and density on the finish during the remainder of its barrel maturation. The potential is there.
Sauternes. 90% Sémillon, 5% Sauvignon Blanc, 5% Muscadelle. RS 115 g/l, TA (sulphuric) 4.0 g/l. Ripe apricot aroma and honeyed citrus. A little heavy on the palate, then a rich spicy finish. Just fresh enough. (JH)
The 2017 Lamothe-Guignard has quite a heady nose featuring warm peaches, honey-drizzled apricots and lemon marmalade with a touch of truffles. The palate shows nice balance with compelling earthy notions intertwined with the stone fruits, finishing with plenty of layers.
