Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2025-2048, Neal Martin, Oct 2022

The 2017 Cantenac Brown is always a strong performer in this vintage. Here, it has quite an opulent nose that you could easily mistake for a 2018 with copious black cherries and violet scents. The palate is fleshy, rounded and fairly sumptuous with pure black fruits that disguise the backbone. There is a welcome marine influence with hints of shucked oyster shells developing on the finish. Give this several years in bottle. Tasted at the Cantenac Brown vertical at the château.

Tasted blind. Deep ruby. Bright blue fruit and incense on the nose. Dark-fruited on the palate – good energy and purity here. Tangy but not overridden by acidity, this is a compact and vibrant style finding the energy and florality typical of its region. Well made. (TP)

The 2017 Cantenac Brown has really come together nicely. The typically overt Cantenac Brown style is present in a round, supple Margaux that exudes textural richness and raciness. Dark cherry, spice, chocolate and licorice all flesh out in this wonderfully inviting, supple Margaux, with pretty savory notes that add freshness and energy. This understated wine is all class.
