2017 Lynsolence

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2017 Lynsolence features raisin cake, plum preserves and mocha scents with wafts of tapenade and tilled soil. Full, rich and spicy, it has a chewy texture and long, spicy finish going just a bit rustic.

The 2017 Lynsolence is pure Merlot from 55-year old vines cropped at 23.40hl/ha. It has a well defined bouquet with potpourri and mint aromas on the nose, quite forward and generous even at this early stage. The palate is medium-bodied with a little chewiness on the entry. Good depth and grip, fine acidity, a little compact towards the finish but bottle age will benefit this Saint-Émilion.

Deep inky colored, the 100% Merlot 2017 Lynsolence comes from sandy, gravelly soils and spent 18 months in new French oak. This is a ripe, modern-styled, sexy wine that's loaded with notions of creme de cassis, graphite, white chocolate, classy oak, and hints of cedar pencil. Rich, medium to full-bodied, concentrated, and with sweet tannin, drink this sexy beast of a 2017 over the coming decade or more. Tasted twice. This cuvee comes from Denis Barraud’s 2.5-hectare vineyard in Saint-Emilion, which is mostly deep, gravelly soils not too dissimilar from what can be found in Pomerol, which might be why this wine always has a rich, opulent, Pomerol-like style. There were 650 cases of the 2017 produced and it hit 14% natural alcohol.
