Tasted blind. Mid gold colour. Dusty, meaty nose – there seems a hint of VA here. Marked by sulphurous smoke on both nose and palate, this mealy and sweet example lacks definition and clarity. Awkward for now, it will be interesting to see this at a decade old. (TP)

The 2017 Chateau D'Arce is another beautiful, elegant wine. Ripe raspberries, flowers, white truffles, and plenty of minerality all emerge from the glass, and it shows plenty of elegance, purity, and class. It's going to benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age and drink brilliantly for a decade.
Sauternes. 90% Sémillon, 9% Sauvignon Blanc, 1% Muscadelle. RS 124 g/l, TA (sulphuric) 4.5 g/l. Rich in apricot and pear aromas, lightly spiced. Deep, almost chewy and perfectly balanced with a long almond/citrus finish. (JH)
The 2017 D'Arche gives up fresh apple juice, lemon curd and pink grapefruit notions with touches of crushed rocks and white pepper. The palate gives appealing purity with a lively backbone cutting through the rich fruit, finishing on a lemony note.
