Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2022-2032, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Mar 2020

The 2017 Taillefer offers lovely density in a mid-weight style that holds considerable near- and medium-term appeal. Succulent dark cherry, blood orange, chocolate, spice, new leather and mocha all flesh out in this appealing, unctuous Pomerol from Bernard Moueix. Best of all, the 2017 should be a terrific value. Tasted two times.

Punteggio 89/100 · Da bere 2020-2029, Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, Wine Advocate, Mar 2020

Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2017 Taillefer is a little closed and broody to begin, opening to offer glimpses and plum preserves, baked black cherries and mulberries plus wafts of underbrush and cast-iron pan. Medium-bodied, the palate is textured by soft, rounded tannins, with just enough expressive black fruits and a mineral-laced finish.

Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2022-2036, Neal Martin, Feb 2020

The 2017 Taillefer has an attractive and enticing bouquet, well defined with blackberry and raspberry, black truffle and an underlying mineral note. The palate is medium-bodied with well integrated new oak. I love the harmony and purity of this Taillefer that really seems to have gone up a level since its showing in barrel, hence my higher score. This comes recommended, especially as it often sells for a reasonable price.

The 2017 Taillefer is matured in 50% new oak. A first showing demonstrates a little too much oak but a second a few days later is much better: perfumed and floral with slightly more blue fruit than its peers, but nicely defined. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannin, well judged acidity, quite cohesive in the mouth with a silky smooth finish that evinces some deft and judicious use of new oak. This is a fine early drinking Pomerol in the making.
