Punteggio 15.5/20 · Da bere 2023-2033, Tom Parker MW, jancisrobinson.com, Sep 2021

Tasted blind. Deep ruby colour. Crushed red fruits on the nose – not the most defined but with a good intensity and hint of spice. The palate is compact and medium weight, slightly lean against very chalky tannins. A linear and fine fruit core lingers on the finish. (TP)

The 2017 Poujeaux is bold, pleasantly rich and quite expressive today. Sweet red and dark cherry, white pepper and floral notes are front and center. Hearty tannins need time in bottle to soften a touch, that should not be a huge issue in another few years' time.

Punteggio 87/100 · Da bere 2020-2029, Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, Wine Advocate, Mar 2020

The 2017 Poujeaux is blended of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 13% Petit Verdot, aged for 16-18 months in French oak barrels (30% new). Medium to deep garnet-purple color, it has a pronounced nose of fresh blackcurrants, crushed black berries and kirsch with nuances of cedar chest, pencil lead and crushed rocks. Medium bodied, the palate has a good core of pure, expressive black fruits, framed by firm, rugged tannins and loads of freshness, finishing just a tad hard.

The 2017 Poujeaux has a wonderful bouquet with expressive brambly red berry fruit, wilted rose petal and light damp earthy/loamy aromas bubbling up with aeration, all with very fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannins. This feels a little pinched at the moment but it has the weight and intensity to fill out with bottle age. Maybe it would benefit from more complexity on the finish, but otherwise it is a well-crafted Poujeaux.
