Note di degustazione
Tasted blind. Deep ruby colour in the glass. Clove and nutmeg together with brambly fruit on the nose. The palate however has a leaner graphite edge that does not sync with the riper fruit and slightly minty tones. The tannins show real bite without excess, but warming alcohol and excess spice is evident on the back end. (TP)

The 2017 Clos des Jacobins is a dark, sumptuous beauty. Succulent dark cherry, red plum, mocha, spice, menthol and pine all flesh out as the 2017 shows off its alluring, inviting personality. Generous and creamy on the palate, with terrific depth, the Clos des Jacobins is a winner in 2017. All the elements are impeccably balanced throughout, and the wine finishes with good energy and depth. This has the structure to age. Tasted two times.
Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Clos des Jacobins has a nose of warm black cherries, redcurrant jelly and stewed plums plus wafts of unsmoked cigars and scorched earth. Medium-bodied, the palate offers loads of refreshing black and red fruits with a plush texture and just enough freshness to lift the finish.
The 2017 Clos des Jacobins has quite a detailed bouquet, tightly wound at first with blackberry, raspberry coulis and light rose petal aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin and well judged acidity. I like the harmonious nature of this Saint-Émilion, quite focused and showing much more refinement on the finish than I presupposed. This has very good potential.
