A success in this vintage, the 2017 Moulin-Rouge reveals aromas of dark berries, sweet soil and cigar smoke, followed by a medium-bodied, lively and elegant palate with a fleshy core of fruit, sweet tannins and a precise finish.

The 2017 Château du Moulin Rouge is a Cru Bourgeois with a floral, violet-tinged bouquet with cassis and blackberry fruit, but overall the aromatics come across as a little smudged compared to its peers. The palate is sweet with a core of red cherry and strawberry fruit tinged with soy, but missing a little tension and certainly in need of more grip and structured on the easygoing, mocha-tinged finish. For early drinking only.
50% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc. Deep cherry red. Sweet spice and a light mocha note as well as ripe blackcurrant. Finely spiced on the palate too. Gentle, fresh and long. Not a blockbuster or particularly full in the mouth but has finesse. (JH)
The 2017 du Moulin Rouge has a conservative, rather earthy bouquet that needs more fruit concentration. The palate is medium-bodied with soft tannin, simple and rather smudged with an oaky/mocha finish.
