The 2017 Pierre de Lune is a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep garnet-purple colored, it springs from the glass with exuberant notes of crushed plums, blueberries and boysenberries with touches of anise, violets and menthol. Medium-bodied, the savory-laced palate has smooth, ripe tannins and bags of freshness to support, finishing with a spicy kick. Only 2,400 bottles were made.

Lots of plum and black cherry fruits as well as damp earth and leafy herbs emerge from the 2017 Chateau Pierre De Lune, a medium-bodied, charming, nicely textured Saint-Emilion that offers tons of ripe Merlot character. Coming from a tiny 1.05-hectare vineyard owned by the former regisseur of Chateau Clos Fourtet, Tony Ballu, this blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon (aged in 50% new oak) is a beautiful wine well worth following for at least 10-15 years.
The 2017 Pierre de Lune was cropped at 21hl/ha between on 13 and 23 September; then matured in 50% new oak. It has a very pure bouquet with well-integrated oak, quite floral with dark cherries, blueberry and a touch of pencil shavings. The palate is well balanced with fine tannin, quite poised with a touch of spice towards the finish. This is an excellent Saint-Émilion – just a shame only 2,000 bottles are produced. This is an exclusivity of Jeffrey Davies in the US market.
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Pierre de Lune has a wonderfully spicy nose of fenugreek, black pepper and cinnamon with a core of cassis, plum preserves and espresso. Medium-bodied, it's soft and juicy in the mouth with plush tannins and a long spicy finish. Apr 2018, www.robertparker.com
