Punteggio 89/100 · Da bere 2020-2027, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Mar 2020

The 2017 Baron de Brane is a pretty wine to drink now and over the next few years. Dark cherry, mocha, spice and new leather are all nicely pushed forward. There is a good bit of immediacy to the 2017, if not a ton of depth or persistence.

Punteggio 85/100 · Da bere 2020-2023, Neal Martin, Feb 2020

The 2017 Baron de Brane offers brambly black fruit mixed with gravel and tobacco on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied with light, dry tannins. Modest fruit intensity with a slightly austere finish that is in keeping with the growing season. Drink over the next three or four years.

Punteggio 84-86/100 · Da bere 2019-2023, Neal Martin, May 2018

The 2017 Baron de Brane has a tightly wound, very stony and slightly earthy bouquet, perhaps just a little dustiness to contend with. The palate is medium-bodied with dry tannin, just a little green around the edges with a generous pinch of black pepper on the finish. This will be an early drinking second label.

Punteggio 86-88/100 · Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Apr 2018

The 2017 Baron de Brane is an attractive wine, but it is also a bit modest in structure and diluted in character. It will be interesting to see if the Baron fleshes out during its aging. Today, the 2017 is decidedly light in body, but there is good lift to the red berry fruit.
