Tasted blind. Coppery gold colour in the glass. Full of saffron and ginger, there is a hit of botrytis on the nose. Sultanas, dried figs. Powerful and full of burnt sugar. This is heady and caramelised but the fruit weight just about carries it off. Could get better with time. (TP)
The 2017 Bastor-Lamontagne is a delicate wine. Orange peel, dried flowers, spice, ginger and candied lemon peel are nicely layered. The 2017 offers most depth and complexity in an understated style that is best suited for drinking over the next handful of years.
The 2017 Bastor-Lamontagne features pronounced notes of ripe pineapple, spice cake and lemon marmalade with hints of acacia honey, tangerine peel and wet wool. The palate has fantastic intensity and tension with loads of lift on the tangy finish.

This Sauternes estate was acquired by the Cathiard family of Ch. Smith Haut Lafitte in 2014. Located not too far from Ch. Suduiraut, the property has 52 hectares of vines in a single block.
