Tasted blind. Pale gold colour. White sultana, a slightly oxidative style. Tangy, bright mandarin and satsuma. Quite vinous, not overly sweet. Just a little bruised. (TP)

This wine wasn't showing too well when I tasted it from barrel during Primeurs, but it has really blossomed now that it is in bottle! The 2017 Filhot leaps from the glass with exotic notions of mango peel, pineapple upside-down cake and passion fruit with nuances of crème caramel and tangerine peel plus a fragrant floral waft in the background. Concentrated and complex, the multi-layered palate features a lively line of acidity offering compelling tension. It finishes long and earthy/minerally.
The 2017 Filhot was showing a bit of grey rot on the nose. This comes through in the bouquet, which is a real shame because the surrounding fruit feels pure and with good botrytis. I will not judge this now but wait and see how it develops through its barrel maturation. Two bottles tasted.
