The 2017 Brillette has a voluminous bouquet that kind of wraps itself around your olfactory senses: mulberry, sage and light earthy aromas. The palate is well balanced with supple tannins, fleshy and approachable with red plum and touches of meat juices on the animally finish. Fine, but not long term compared to its peers.
The 2017 Brillette offers terrific persistence, even if the flavors are a touch on the vegetal side. It will be interesting to see the direction the 2017 takes as it finishes its aging. If the 2017 gains depth, it could turn out to be interesting, although the floral, savory elements is likely to keep the wine on the eccentric side.
