Punteggio 16.5/20 · Da bere 2024-2037, James Lawther MW, jancisrobinson.com, Sep 2023

55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot. Harvested 11 to 30 September. Garnet hue. Pretty floral and red-fruit nose. Shows lots of charm. Delicate weight and frame. Zesty acidity. Fresh and harmonious but worth waiting another couple of years. (JL)

Diam closure. Tasted blind. Pale lemon colour. Fine, chiselled fruit on the nose. Cool and fresh, there is an elegance despite the intensity on the palate. Fresh and lithe, it is driven with just a hint of lees on the finish. Bright, lightly spiced. Potential. (TP)

Punteggio 89/100 · Da bere 2022-2032, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Mar 2020

The 2017 Domaine de Chevalier remains a mystery. In multiple tastings I have found the 2017 to be soft and supple, but also lacking complexity and the pedigree that make the finest vintages so exciting. There is good energy at the outset, but then the wine narrows on the mid-palate and finish. Tasted three times.

The 2017 Domaine de Chevalier is deep garnet-purple in color with a nose of baked plums, black cherry compote, fruitcake and violets plus wafts of fragrant earth and rosehip tea. Medium-bodied, the palate has loads of fruit with plush, rounded tannins and a lively finish. A blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot, this vintage spent 18 months in French oak, 35% new.
