Tasted blind. Mid ruby colour. Quite earthy, savoury and muddled on the nose. The palate has brighter red fruit but it lacks definition. Chalky tannins and softening, savoury edges suggest early maturity together with a strong, earthy character that lingers on the finish. (TP)

The 2017 Cos Labory is pliant, open-knit and quite expressive. Spice, dried flowers, dried herbs, red cherry and tobacco are all finely-knit. A lovely wine, Clos Labory is just as delightful as it was en primeur. Readers can expect an attractive, mid-weight Saint-Estèphe built for near and medium-term drinking. The 2017 is nicely balanced and easy to like.
The 2017 Cos Labory is medium to deep garnet-purple colored and very fragrant and floral with red and black fruits, some spices and earth plus a waft of herbs. The palate is medium-bodied, soft, fine-grained and juicy with good expression and length.
The 2017 Cos Labory displayed a bit of "funk" on the nose but thankfully it dissipates to reveal modest blackberry and tertiary aromas tinged with espresso. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, quite lithe in the mouth although it does lack some grip and complexity on the finish. Not bad, but not exactly memorable either.
