2017 Macon Pierreclos En Crazy

The 2017 Mâcon-Pierreclos En Crazy has gained in tension and energy since I tasted it from barrel, and it surpasses my expectations. Offering up an expressive bouquet of mandarin, white flowers and green orchard fruit, it's medium to full-bodied, textural and charmingly open-knit but displays a racy spine of acidity and a level of precision I hadn't anticipated. Composed of the young vines and the later press fractions from the fruit that produces Guffens's best cuvées of Mâcon-Pierreclos, the En Crazy is best described as the domaine's introductory cuvée.
