Note di degustazione
The 2016 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru feels a little disjointed on the nose at the moment, some reduction subduing the fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy, grippy tannin and what feels like a wine that has undergone more extraction than its peers. There is potential here, but it has a lot of issues to address at the moment. I was shocked when the Domaine was unveiled. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting.

Dark red with ruby tones. Very ripe, deep, youthfully tight aromas of blackberry and licorice pastille. Velvety black fruits on entry, then chewy and backward in the middle palate, displaying pungent mineral and crushed rock notes and more obvious power than the Brûlées. As ripe as this wine is, it's more savory than sweet, and its tight kernel of fruit doesn't quite come alive today. Perhaps on the verge of surmaturité , but I'm encouraged by the wine's finishing violet lift.
The 2016 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaux Monts has a very pure, quite generous and maybe more expressive bouquet compared to the Aux Brûlées at the moment with copious black cherries, raspberry coulis and crushed flower aromas. The palate has superb energy and precision, extremely detailed with layers of mineral-soaked red and black fruit commingling on the sustained finish that fans out with style and panache. God...I love this. One of Etienne's best in 2016.
