The 2016 Pouilly-Fuissé Hors-Classe Tournant de Pouilly is one of the more reserved wines in the portfolio, unfurling reluctantly in the glass with notes of ripe lemons, yellow orchard fruit and pastry cream. On the palate, it's full-bodied, deep and dense, with considerable concentration and substance, balanced by the bright acids that this domaine seems so unfailingly to capture. This has considerable aging potential and will demand two or three years' patience.

Cask sample. This smells riper than the Clos des Prouges. Some oak sweetness as well as ripe lemon. Smells generous as well as fresh. Chewy, fresh and chalky on the palate. Acidity well integrated here though still prominent. Deep and long with pear flavours and texture on the finish. (JH)
(13.8% alcohol; 25% new oak; this was the last Fuissé vineyard that Domaine Ferret harvested in 2016): Bright yellow. In a somewhat riper style than the Ménétrières, with its lemon drop and spicy, vanillin oak aromas accompanied by yellow stone fruits. Very ripe and smooth on the palate; bigger than the Ménétrières but without quite that wine's definition, complexity or class. Finishes lightly saline, dry and long, with very good lift. I suspect that this wine will need a year or two in bottle to absorb some of its oak and really come alive.
