A terrific 2015, the 2015 Châteauneuf-du-Pape is made from 50% Grenache and 20% each of Syrah and Mourvèdre, with the balance a mix of permitted varieties. Blackberry jam, black cherries, smoked meats, licorice and scorched earth notes all give way to a ripe, sexy, beautifully textured effort that has sweet tannin and a great finish. Drink it over the coming decade or more.

La Gardine's 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape is only 50% Grenache, which perhaps accounts for why it shows off more pretty spice notes than cherry fruit. This full-bodied wine's tannins are supple, and the wine draws to a close with echoes of cinnamon and allspice. Drink it over the next decade.
(aged in a combination of concrete vats and wooden barrels) Brilliant ruby. Fragrant, smoke-accented red fruit, licorice and floral scents are given definition and lift by a zesty mineral nuance. Silky and focused on the palate, offering concentrated raspberry and bitter cherry flavors that become firmer and more lively with air. Shows distinctly youthful character and finishes with very good spicy thrust and dusty tannins that come in late.
