Note di degustazione
The 2016 Givry 1er Cru Clos du Cras Long hails from the parcel that was the first Lumpp replanted with superior selections of Pinot Noir. It's the deepest and darkest of these wines, exhibiting aromas of cassis, pencil shaving and cherries, followed by a medium-bodied, tight-knit and concentrated palate structured around beautifully fine-grained tannins. This will need 3-4 years of bottle age to hit its stride, but it reveals the greatest potential.

Reduction currently dominates the underlying fruit but it does appear ripe. The dense, powerful and very serious middle weight plus flavors also brim with dry extract that serves to buffer the markedly firm tannins that really come up on the backward but balanced and explosively long finish. In contrast to some of the prior wines that should be approachable young, this superb effort is definitely going to need extended cellaring.
