(Gilles Jayer started bringing in this fruit very late, on October 1): Bright red-ruby. Pungent lift to the aromas of raspberry, apple and minerals. Tougher and much more backward than the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits, conveying a medicinal cast and little easy sweetness to its sappy red cherry and licorice flavors. The strong tannins here are going to require patience.

Bright, dark red. Vibrant aromas of black cherry and licorice. Densely packed and tactile, with penetrating acidity energizing the dark berry and spice flavors. Communicates an impression of solidity and has plenty of material to support its substantial tannins--not to mention a graceful evolution in bottle. Finishes with lovely vinosity and persistence.
