The 2014 Franc-Mayne has a pretty bouquet with soft red plum and mulberry aromas, the oak nicely integrated, leaning to a more modern style of Saint Emilion. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy ripe red cherry and strawberry fruit laced with spice, leading to a composed, slightly gamey finish that feels long in the mouth. It does not quite match with the quality it showed in barrel, but it will improve with time in bottle, hence the plus sign attached to my score.

The 2014 Franc-Mayne is dark, supple and inviting. Succulent red cherry, plum, spice, blood orange and new leather are all pushed forward. The 2014 is quite expressive today, with lovely purity of fruit and fabulous balance. It should drink nicely with minimal cellaring.
Soft, baked blackcurrant fruit. Plentiful tannin on the palate – very traditional in its structure and savoury finish. The fruit is sufficiently ripe, but there is quite a narrow range of flavour. (RH)
Bright crimson. Heady, furry nose full of drama. Intense with powerful blackcurrant aromas. None of the easy opulence of sweet Merlot but well constructed and with real drive. Very clean and pacy. (JR)
