Good medium red. Slightly higher-toned on the nose than the village Gevrey, offering aromas of raspberry and chocolate. Then a bit more gripping on the palate, showing more mineral thrust and energy for the year. More saline and also more backward than the Gevrey, with its touch of sweetness leavened by a firm acid backbone. Finishes very long, with lovely floral lift.

Good energy and typicality with no bitterness. Not yet ready thanks to the tannins but all is in balance. (JR)

The 2015 Vosne-Romanée Village, which is 50% whole bunch this year, has a touch of oyster shell infusing the tensile red berry fruit, almost Morey-like in profile. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe and succulent tannin, well-judged acidity and superb fruit concentration on the finish. Give it a year in bottle.

(made mostly from Maizières Basses and the rest from Les Ravioles, this is Leroux's largest cuvée after his Gevrey-Chambertin; 60% vendange entier ; from fruit harvested on September 12): Bright dark red. Sexy, nuanced scents of black raspberry, coffee mocha and flowers lifted by a mineral element. A lovely, precise village wine with a black raspberry flavor given cut by juicy minerality. Nicely concentrated without any excess weight. Finishes dense, firmly tannic and long, with enticing perfume.
