Bright yellow. Aromas of musky peach, pear and apple come across as considerably riper than those of the estate's 2016s, as at so many other properties I visited in October; still a touch of reduction here. Very, plush and fine-grained, showing more weight than the 2016 version but without coming off as heavy. Concentrated and obviously higher in alcohol than the '16: there's more wine here, as well as a slightly more tropical-fruit character than the '16.

The 2015 Saint Veran les Rochats Blanc comes from a parcel that receives more sunlight than the Les Buis. As you would expect, it has more exuberance and concentration than its "sibling" with scents of yellow plum, orange blossom and cold wet stones. The palate is very well balanced with crisp acidity, very focused and lightly spiced in the mouth, leading to a well-defined finish. This is always one of my favorite Saint-Véran wines and the 2015 is no different.
Fresh apple and floral notes – a bit of jasmine and honeysuckle. Ripe, almost confected fruit, but finishes with a savoury twang. (RH)
