Fourrier's 2011 Chambolle-Musigny Les Sentiers is strikingly beautiful. Freshly cut flowers, mint and sweet red berries take shape in the glass, but the Sentiers is mostly distinguished for its laser-like focus and cut. This is a fairly sculpted, energetic style of Chambolle that stands out for its fabulous balance and class. Sadly, there is just one barrel to go around and it will be bottled in magnums that will not be available commercially.

The 2011 Chambolle-Musigny Village demands a little coaxing from the glass: earthy at first but subsequently unveiling precise red cherry and red currant fruit. The palate is fresh and compact on the entry, defined by crisp tannins, very fine purity and impressive precision if not quite the length. Domaine Fourrier is located in the village of Gevrey-Chambertin. The estate has been run by Jean-Marie Fourrier since 1994, and has rapidly become one of the village’s most fashionable names, known for producing pure and transparent Pinot Noir.
