The 2013 Pinot Noir Duvarita Vineyard is bold and exuberant at the outset, with plenty of succulent dark fruit, kirsch, hard candy, spice and floral notes. The slightly attenuated, clipped finish leaves an impression of awkwardness in this medium-bodied, candied Pinot.

More rounded and expansive on the palate than the Los Alamos Vineyard release, the 2013 Pinot Noir Duvarita Vineyard comes from sandy loam soils located just across the western edge of the Sta. Rita Hills AVA. This is a very cool site. It offers classic cool-climate spice, crushed flowers, strawberry and assorted red fruits, with a kiss of vanilla, to go with a medium-bodied, pure, polished feel. I like the depth of fruit here, and, for such a cool climate site, it has terrific fruit and texture. It's already beautiful, but I've no doubt it will evolve nicely for 4-5 years.
Bright red. Sexy aromas of black raspberry, potpourri, Indian spices and smoky minerals. Red and dark berry flavors coat the palate, with a smoky mineral quality building slowly and contributing energy. Smoothly blends sweetness and vivacity and finishes with excellent clarity and fruity persistence.
